New hardware, new funds, new partnerships: Watch CFS’ latest 6-month fusion update

SPARC, the machine we’ll use to prove most of the technology we need to build a fusion power plant, is coming together, making it very easy to see the progress we’ve made in the last half year at Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS).

Over the last six months, we’ve received two more big components: the first half of our vacuum vessel and the first toroidal field (TF) magnet. Tokamak Hall, where we’re building SPARC, is a busy place as we expand our assembly work at CFS headquarters in Devens, Massachusetts.

“The activity in Devens at the SPARC facility continues to be at an all-time high,” our CEO and Co-founder Bob Mumgaard said in our newest six-month update video. Cranes are hoisting components, technicians are working on SPARC’s cryostat base, and more TF magnets are moving through our factory to slot in beside the first.

We’ve moved ahead in other areas in the second half of 2025. Check the video below to hear about these accomplishments:

⚡️ CFS raised $863 million in new funding.

⚡️ CFS announced partnerships with Google DeepMind, NVIDIA, and Siemens to take advantage of new digital tools like AI and digital twins.

⚡️ CFS signed our second customer for our ARC power plant’s energy, Italy-based energy company Eni.

⚡️ Energy Secretary Chris Wright visited CFS, underscoring the administration’s fusion support.

Watch the video below for the latest sights from our SPARC facility and magnet factory and the latest word on what’s coming in the next six months.

“This is the six months where the plant turns into an operation and the tokamak turns into what looks like a tokamak,” Mumgaard said.
